We get two veg boxes a week. One is from a local organic farm. The other is an “Oddbox” of farm-rescued veg that is surplus to supermarket requirements. We eat a lot of vegetable soup.

And then gets turned into the second chamber…

Where it continues to rot. There are thousands of worms munching away.

We add continuously to the primary digester. Mostly off cuts, peelings, and spoiling veg. Also, soft pruning. Some, but not all, grass clippings. Dead headed flowers, most fallen leaves. Every couple of months I stir it about. I move the less-rotted stuff upstream and chop the more rotted stuff downstream towards the outlet into the second chamber. I dig out under the top layer and turn the rotting stuff out.

It stays in the second chamber for a few more months (never long enough).
Then I spread it about. I mix it with topsoil for potting on. I make compost tea for the tomatoes. Lovely stuff.
