Spoken Folk is what I/we do. Spoken Folk is/are public and/or performances (piece/s) of (mostly) words punctuated with music. There may be print and images or objects but words drive Spoken Folk. The scale can be adapted to venue and event. Spoken Folk could be a small piece of something bigger, or an organising principle of the bigger thing.
Spoken Folk is intended to be heard: hearing folk speak, and also heard through reading and seeing. Broadsides always had at least these modes. Much Rap is Spoken Folk
Underneath Spoken Folk is a polity: peaceful, and a practice: deliberative broadside (can it be?).
Spoken Folk seeks to include the global majority. Peaceful, inclusive, assertive, honest, just. Spoken Folk may be direct or indirect but never exclusive, dishonest or mean. Don’t take it personal.
We must live together on the earth in a way that does not continue to despoil our habitat and that of those with whom we share this epoch. Kate Raworth’s Doughnut Economics expresses this polity. So, too do many other thinkers .
